Thought Catalog Tweets Possibly the Most Racist Commentary About Ferguson Riots

If you're unfamiliar with Thought Catalog, it's basically an online magazine where anyone can submit written pieces that have to be approved by staff for publication. It's often mocked for its often melodramatic, ditzy articles.

In the case of Ferguson, Mo., a city currently in a state of acute distress, Thought Catalog is a place where someone by the name of Anthony Rogers can write the most racist thing possible.

Here's the tweet sent out by Thought Catalog to that most racist thing:

And here's a sample of Rogers' "thought" piece:

So like a normal neighborhood dealing with the loss of someone they love, they started breaking into every shopping center plaza store and gas station. Newsreels yell "Riot!" "Looters!" As every stupid item gets stolen and the "looters" get to burning stores to the ground. Shocking news from Ferguson MissouriYou cannot find Jordans, rims, weaves or Quick Trips in Ferguson, MO.

The response hasn't been pretty. "You are a disgusting person, didn't have to read more than a few sentences and look at your home page to know this is an ignorant and racist article," reads a typical comment on the post.

One of the questions on Thought Catalog's FAQ section asks why the site publishes "offensive content." The answer: "We're an open platform and try not to filter any of the posts, although illegal content and visual pornography aren't permitted."

We've requested comment from Chris Lavergne, Thought Catalog's publisher.
